Sadly, the statistics surrounding US veterans returning to civilian life following active military duty are alarming. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) and depression, along with all of the subsequent effects these conditions cause, such as unemployment, addiction, feelings of isolation, broken relationships and even suicide are all things that are prevalent amongst this community.
Meanwhile, the number of homeless dogs and cats that are euthanized each year reaches into the millions. These companion animals can be the life-saving therapy or friend that many returning service men and women need. That’s precisely the purpose behind the Pets for Vets initiative, a program dedicated to supporting veterans and providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America’s veterans who could benefit from a companion animal.
On Friday June 2, 2017, we will be participating in the Pets for Vets Golf Outing at the West Chase Golf Club. The proceeds of this event will go directly to supporting this wonderful program. There are opportunities for participants as well as sponsors. We are also welcoming raffle items for those who wish to donate. Please see our flier for more information on how you can get involved with this great cause.
Let’s work together to help heal the mental wounds of our brave service men and women, and provide a second chance to shelter animals who are looking for a new forever home.
If you have questions, comments or would like additional information about the Pets for Vets program or this golf outing, don’t hesitate to contact us.
We would like to thank our sponsors for generously supporting our organization and our servicemen:
