New Year’s Resolutions for Kittens

Are you starting 2016 out with a kitten? Congratulations! What a wonderful way to begin a new year. Your little furball will have lots of growing to do, and lots to learn, in the coming months. In fact, if little Fluffy could set goals, she’d probably have some pretty impressive objectives to set for herself. In this article, a Northwest Indianapolis, IN veterinarian lists some of the resolutions your new furbaby may choose to set for the next year.

Explore

Your curious little adventurer will want to investigate every square inch of her new home. Make sure to do some kittenproofing, so your furbaby stays safe. Remove or secure toxic plants; wires and cords; medicine; small objects, such as buttons, that could prove choking hazards; plastic bags; and household chemicals. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Look Adorable

Kitties have a knack for mischief. Little Fluffy will want to work on her most adorable look of innocence, the one that completely melts you.

Sleep

Your tiny feline will spend quite a bit of 2016 dozing. (We suspect your sleepy furball will probably catch some of those Z’s while snuggled up in your lap.) Sleeping is actually quite important for kittens: little Fluffy’s body will release certain growth hormones when she’s asleep. Offer plenty of comfy beds and napping spots. Of course, kittens also have to figure out how many different positions they can nap in!

Grow Big, Strong, And Healthy

Help your feline buddy achieve this goal by feeding her a good, high-quality kitten formula cat food. Ask your vet for nutritional recommendations.

Play!

Fluffy will calm down as she ages, but for the time being, you’re going to have a furry ball of mischief on your hands. Offer your kitty lots of fun toys, and play with her every day. Now is the time to show your furbaby proper petiquette: if your frisky pet playfully attacks you, firmly tell her to play nice, and then ignore her until she does.

Take Complete Control Of The Humans

Kittens have a way of melting our hearts with their adorable furry faces and plaintive meows. We’re guessing it won’t take your furry little pal very long to establish herself as queen of the house!

Happy New Year! As your Northwest Indianapolis, IN animal clinic, we look forward to serving all your pet’s veterinary care needs this year.
